Designing courts for a global sport: AFP Courts international technical vision

  • March 02, 2026

The international growth of padel has highlighted the need for common technical frameworks that ensure quality, safety, and consistency in facility development. In this context, AFP Courts has strengthened its position as a leading manufacturer through a strategy based on regulatory compliance, technical innovation, and collaboration with industry bodies in both Europe and the United States.

In Spain, the publication of the new UNE 147201:2024 Standard has marked a qualitative leap in the professionalization of padel courts, establishing for the first time an official technical framework regulating the design, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance of sports facilities. AFP Courts has actively contributed by providing industrial expertise and high-performance construction solutions aligned with this pioneering standard. Beyond harmonizing criteria in Spain, this regulation also serves as a foundation for initiatives aimed at positioning it as an international ISO benchmark, strengthening technical confidence and competitiveness in global padel projects.

In addition, the company has significantly reinforced its presence in the United States, where it began operations in 2019, consolidating its role as a key player in the expansion of padel in this emerging market. In 2025, AFP Courts became an approved manufacturer by the United States Padel Association (USPA), underscoring its commitment to quality and the highest standards in court design and construction across the country.

That same year, in collaboration with the USPA, AFP Courts played a leading role in the publication of the first technical manual in the U.S. specifically focused on the installation and maintenance of padel courts. Developed with the participation of industry professionals, builders, and sector representatives, the manual already serves as a reference for designers, constructors, and investors interested in developing padel facilities.

One of the central pillars of AFP Courts’ strategy is the design of outdoor courts capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions and wind loads, in compliance with ASCE-SEI Exposure engineering standards. Reinforced steel structures and anti-corrosion materials ensure safety, durability, and optimal playing experience in any climate zone, enabling AFP Courts’ solutions to cover the entire U.S. and Caribbean markets while safeguarding the technical and financial viability of investment projects.

This technical approach will gain prominent visibility at RacquetX, where AFP Courts | adidas padel and pickleball will exhibit at stand number 527 and serve as the central court of the event with the #adidasPPLHighCompetition model. RacquetX has established itself as a key meeting point for operators, investors, and racquet sport brands in North America. Discover the courts for the American market here: afpcourts.com/adidas

Furthermore, as the official supplier of the professional padel league, the Pro Padel League, AFP Courts contributes to the development of high-level competitive infrastructure in the United States, reinforcing the visibility and professionalization of padel in a strategic growth market.
