The company Target Sports has emerged as a new player in the international padel ecosystem, aiming to connect club operators and investors with leading infrastructure providers from Spain and Portugal, the sport’s most established markets.
Founded by Phillip Pereira and Jonny Palling, the company focuses on supporting the development of new padel facilities and clubs in the United Kingdom and across Europe’s rapidly expanding markets.
Over thirty-five years of experience linked to padel
Phillip Pereira has been involved in padel for more than thirty-five years. Originally from Gibraltar and now based in Epsom, Surrey, he brings a strong network of industry contacts across Spain and Portugal, combined with deep knowledge of the sport’s international ecosystem.
His role within the industry grew further through his involvement in the Padel World Summit, organised by the Cluster Internacional de Pádel.
Pereira served as an ambassador for the inaugural Padel World Summit in Málaga in 2024, helping connect UK club operators, brands and influencers with more than one hundred and twenty exhibiting companies interested in expanding into emerging padel markets.
A network of leading infrastructure providers
Through the Target Sports brand, the company acts as a bridge between club operators and specialised suppliers, providing access to a wide range of services required to develop padel facilities.
These include:
Padel court supply
Specialised sports turf
Court canopies and structures
Professional lighting systems
Installation and construction services
Architecture and club technology solutions
One of the strategic partnerships strengthening the company’s network is its role as distributor for LEDProjects, a leading global provider of professional lighting solutions for sports venues.
A partnership built on networking and industry knowledge
The creation of Target Sports began when Pereira met Jonny Palling while playing padel at PADELHUB in January 2024.
After attending the Padel World Summit together later that year, discussions between the two evolved into the idea of launching a company capable of delivering turnkey solutions for padel club development in emerging markets.
Their combined networks -along with Palling’s professional background in cybersecurity recruitment- helped shape the business concept that eventually became Target Sports.
First projects already underway
The company’s first major project, signed in December, involves the development of a new club in Shoreham, West Sussex, featuring:
6 covered padel courts
Clubhouse
Mezzanine area
Construction is expected to begin this month, while the company continues to explore additional projects in Surrey and neighbouring regions.
According to Pereira, many investors entering the sport are still becoming familiar with the technical and operational aspects of padel infrastructure, which is why companies like Target Sports aim to provide expert guidance, industry knowledge and access to trusted suppliers.
