Playtomic has acquired TIMP, a SaaS platform specialising in the management of gyms, sports facilities and fitness and wellness businesses, in a deal that expands the group’s capabilities in sports facility management technology.
Founded in Valencia in 2014, TIMP currently serves more than 3,500 centres across Spain and Italy, providing tools to manage customers, bookings, schedules, activities, payments, invoicing and communications, while also automating a range of operational processes.
Following the acquisition, TIMP will continue to operate independently, retaining its own brand, team and focus on the fitness and wellness sector. Playtomic, meanwhile, will remain focused on racket sports.
Technology for increasingly diverse sports facilities
One of the main objectives of the deal is to support facilities that combine padel courts with other sports activities and services.
As some sports facilities expand their offering and move towards broader concepts, operators increasingly need to manage different activities within the same venue. Against this backdrop, Playtomic and TIMP will work on an integration between their platforms, allowing operators to use each system for the activities it is specifically designed to manage.
The aim is to reduce duplication and simplify day-to-day operations, while maintaining the specialised focus of each platform.
Felix Ruiz, CEO and co-founder of Playtomic, says the acquisition will allow TIMP to continue growing under its own brand and with its own team, while the two companies explore platform integration for facilities combining padel with other activities.
Alejandro Vázquez-Guillén, CEO of TIMP, adds that the acquisition marks a new stage for the company while maintaining its independence and commitment to the centres that rely on its platform.
Digitisation and automation
TIMP has built its proposition around the digitisation and automation of day-to-day facility management processes.
According to aggregated data provided by the company based on its customer base, centres using TIMP recover an average of 150 working hours per month, reduce administrative tasks by up to 60% through digitisation and automation, and increase activity attendance by up to 25%.
These figures are aggregated customer metrics provided by TIMP and are reported by the company itself.
Two companies, two areas of focus and one technology integration
The transaction does not involve bringing both businesses together under a single brand. Playtomic and TIMP will retain their respective areas of specialisation, while exploring areas where connecting their platforms can create value for operators.
Playtomic will remain focused on racket sports and, according to company figures, currently operates across more than 66 countries, with more than 4.7 million players and over 6,500 partner clubs.
TIMP, meanwhile, will continue developing its management software for gyms, sports facilities, boutique studios, yoga and Pilates centres, physiotherapy centres and other fitness and wellness businesses, retaining its team and base in Valencia.
The acquisition therefore reflects a broader shift towards technology solutions capable of supporting increasingly diversified sports facilities, where padel can coexist with different sports, services and activities within the same venue.
