Safina joins the Cluster as an associate

  • April 03, 2024

Safina, a Portuguese company dedicated to the production and commercialization of artificial turf, has joined the International Padel Cluster (IPC).

Founded in 1971, Safina initially specialized in the production of carpets, runners, and mats, and over time expanded its activities to the areas of synthetic yarn extrusion and coconut mat manufacturing. In 1996, it began manufacturing and marketing decorative artificial turf, further expanding its activities, and in 2006, it started manufacturing sports and landscaping artificial turf.

Currently, Safina is one of the most relevant players in the Iberian Peninsula market and is present in other markets such as Europe, Morocco, Algeria, Qatar, and Australia, among others. Values such as quality, commitment, and proximity sustain the longevity of a business that, even in expansion, does not lose its essence. With a team of around 100 employees and a portfolio of approximately 500 national and international clients, the differentiating factor is the proximity with which they are treated. "Our competitive advantage is the good relationship we foster with our customers", comments Acácio Coelho, founder of Safina.

Throughout its 50 years of experience, Safina has achieved many milestones, including:

  • Certification of the company's Quality Management System by the ISO9001:2015 Standard, as well as the implementation of an extensive modernization plan for manufacturing systems and technologies (total investment of over €5 million in the period 2008-2011).
  • Safina's signing of the first major tender for the supply of artificial turf for football in Portugal, for a total of 38 fields in the Braga District between 2009 and 2010.
  • Integration as a member of the Synthetic Turf Council of the EMEA (ESTC) and, more recently, partnership with FIFA-certified suppliers.
