The FIP European Padel Championships will break the record for participating countries in its 13th edition

  • April 04, 2024

A record number of countries -30 in the men's category and 21 in the women's- have officially pre-registered for the 13th edition of the FIP European Padel Championships, which will take place in Cagliari, Sardinia, from July 22nd to 27th, 2024.

This is a remarkable figure, confirming the unstoppable growth of the discipline and the fervent anticipation for an international team event that is constantly expanding. This year, Italy will host the event, organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP). It returns to a region that, after the international events of recent years, is increasingly confirmed as 'the Padel Island".

It will, therefore, be a record-breaking European Championship, where the high number of applications confirms the effectiveness of synergy and teamwork between the FIP and national federations for the dissemination and growth of padel. In the previous edition of the event (in 2021 in Marbella, Spain), 29 teams participated -16 men's and 13 women's- while in Cagliari, a total of 51 teams will take to the courts. This trend, among other things, highlights the increase -already noted by the FIP Seniors World Padel Championships 2024- in the number of participating countries in the women's category."

Once the registrations are confirmed, the FIP will organize a qualifying phase in case there are -as is likely- more than 16 national teams in the initial draw of the FIP European Padel Championships 2024. The top ten nations in the ranking will be directly admitted to the final phase, while the remaining six will come from the qualifying phase.

Once the 16 participating nations are determined, the FIP European Padel Championships for national teams will begin with a group stage consisting of four groups of four countries each: the top two countries from each group will earn the right to compete for positions 1 to 8, while the countries classified in third and fourth place in the group stage will play for positions 9 to 16.
