Padel continues to break records. For the first time in its history, the number of active courts worldwide has surpassed 50,000. A figure that not only reflects its unstoppable growth but also consolidates padel as one of the sports with the greatest international projection.
According to the Global Padel Report 2025, prepared by Playtomic in collaboration with Strategy&, PwC’s strategic consulting firm, more than 7,100 new courts were built and over 3,280 clubs opened worldwide during 2024. This pace equates to nearly nine new clubs per day and one new court every two and a half hours.
Sustained growth and digitalization
Padel's expansion now spans over 90 countries, with emerging markets in Europe (such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Portugal), Asia (India, Indonesia), and Latin America (Mexico). A notable boost is also confirmed in the United States, especially in states like Florida, California, and Texas, where more than 350 courts were built in 2024 alone.
One of the key factors behind this growth is the digitalization of the ecosystem. The integration of booking and management platforms, such as Playtomic’s, has proven to improve club performance by three to five times compared to traditional models. This facilitates access for new players, retains those already engaged, and promotes the professionalization of the sector.
A social and sporting phenomenon
The report also highlights the high level of player retention, with 92% of users returning after their first experience. This loyalty is due to the combination of accessibility, social component, and addictive game dynamics that characterize padel.
In parallel, an interesting phenomenon is emerging in the United States: 30% of padel clubs already include pickleball courts, reflecting a coexistence between disciplines that until now seemed to compete for the same space.
On the road to the Olympic Games
With the support of the International Padel Federation (FIP), the year 2025 marks a turning point on the path toward the possible inclusion of padel in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. This aspiration not only implies global visibility but also greater investment in infrastructure and professionalization at all levels.
Projections: over 80.000 courts by 2027
Estimates indicate that the current number of courts will continue to grow steadily in the coming years. If the trend continues, 81.000 courts could be reached globally by 2027. This outlook confirms that padel is no longer a passing trend but has become a social, cultural, and sporting phenomenon on a global scale.
